Our Quality & Pricing
Experience The Mocha Bean Difference
“Coffee so fresh, it’s like it was roasted in your own kitchen.”
Why Our Coffee Costs More:
Because we exclusively use Specialty Grade beans in our "Roasted-to-Order" Process
~•~ Here are the Facts ~•~
Roasted After You Order:
• "Roast to Order" means we don't hold stale, old inventory. Your coffee is roasted in small batches and then shipped out within 24 hours after roasting. That means your roasted beans don’t even exist until after you’ve ordered them, ensuring maximum freshness.
Peak Flavor Delivery:
• Coffee arrives 5-10 days post-roast—exactly when it tastes best. Grocery store coffee can’t compare because their coffees have generally been sitting for months.
Specialty Grade Beans Only:
• Our product quality represents the top 10% of global production. Zero defects, exceptional flavor, ethically sourced.
No U.S. Shipping Charges:
• We don't charge shipping for any of our coffee & tea products. Many other "Specialty Coffee" sellers STILL charge shipping on top of their already higher prices.
~•~ Worth the Wait ~•~
• 4-10 days from order to doorstep means the freshest quality coffee available. That takes time and the difference is worth it. Give us a try and we think you'll agree.
”You’ve tried the rest, now taste the best!”
If we were NOT offering the highest quality coffee available to you then there would be no reason to explain any of this.
Instead, you’d probably be shipped a flavorless bag of stale beans that’s been sitting around for an undisclosed amount of time.
We believe in transparency • Here are honest answers to the questions we get most often
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Quality & Pricing
Why is your coffee more expensive than what I find at the grocery store?
Grocery store coffee is typically commercial grade — the bottom 90% of global coffee production.
We exclusively sell premium high-quality coffee beans, known in the industry as “specialty grade” coffee beans, that are curated from the top 10% of all global coffee production and cost 2-3x more at origin. We also don’t compromise on premium natural ingredients used in our roastings, like high quality flavoring oils.
Add in a Roast-to-Order process, in which, your coffee beans aren’t even roasted & bagged until after you submit your order plus, orders are often shipped the very same day they’re roasted. Take all of that into account and it’s hard to deny that our price differences reflect a fundamentally different product from store bought beans.
You’ll always get fresh-roasted, small-batch coffee that arrives at the peak of it’s flavor vs. mass-produced stale commodity coffee that's generally been sitting in warehouses and on shelves for months.
Think farm-to-table versus fast food—both serve their purpose, but the experience and quality are worlds apart.
It’s the combination of the highest quality ingredients available, the closest attention to detail with an individualized roasting process and the delivery of an unrivaled premium product that makes The Mocha Bean experience worth every penny.
What exactly is "specialty grade" coffee?
Specialty grade is the highest quality classification in the coffee industry, awarded to beans scoring 80+ points on a 100-point scale by certified Quality Graders. These beans must have zero primary defects, minimal secondary defects, and distinctive flavor attributes. Only about 10% of the world's coffee qualifies. The difference in your cup is immediately noticeable: complex flavors, clean finish, vibrant aromatics, and no bitterness or burnt taste.
Is fresh-roasted coffee really worth the extra cost?
Absolutely. Coffee begins losing flavor within weeks of roasting. Grocery store coffee can sit in warehouses and on shelves for months before you buy it. We roast daily and ship within days, so you're getting coffee at peak flavor. The difference is dramatic—fresh-roasted coffee with vibrant aromatics and nuanced flavors that stale coffee simply can't deliver. Once you taste the difference, there's no going back.
Do you ever have sales or discounts?
We occasionally offer promotions to our email subscribers and loyal customers. However, our everyday pricing already reflects fair value for the quality we deliver. We price our coffee based on what it costs to produce it ethically and sustainably, not inflated prices designed to be "discounted" later. What you see is honest pricing, not marketing games.
How does your pricing compare to coffee shops?
A 12 oz bag of our coffee makes approximately 24 cups. A typical pricing of $18-22 per bag, that's .75¢-.92¢ per cup. Compare that to $5-7 for a specialty coffee shop drink, and you're getting the same quality for about 1/8th the cost. You're essentially bringing home a better than coffee shop experience.
Why don't you offer lower-priced options?
Our roasters could cut costs by using commercial grade beans, roasting in massive batches weeks in advance, or using synthetic flavorings. But that would compromise everything we stand for. We'd rather serve a smaller community of coffee lovers who appreciate quality than dilute our standards to compete on price. Our mission is to deliver exceptional coffee, not cheap coffee.
What about bulk pricing or subscriptions?
Yes! Larger bag sizes offer better per-pound pricing, and subscription customers receive exclusive benefits and pricing. It's our way of rewarding loyal customers who trust us with their daily coffee ritual. Check our product pages for current bulk options and subscription details.
What if I don't think it's worth the price after trying it?
We stand behind every bag that’s roasted. If you're not completely satisfied, reach out to us. We're confident that once you experience truly fresh, specialty-grade coffee, you'll understand the value. But if it's not for you, we'll make it right.
Are the coffee farmers you source from being paid fairly?
Yes. Ethical sourcing is built into our pricing. Our roasters work with importers and cooperatives that pay farmers well above commodity prices and, in some cases, Fair Trade minimums. When you pay more for our coffee, you're supporting sustainable farming practices and ensuring farmers can invest in quality, not just quantity. It's better for them, better for the environment, and better for your cup.
What makes The Mocha Bean different from other specialty roasters?
Our commitment to daily small-batch roasting, single-origin transparency, and premium natural flavorings sets us apart. We're not trying to be the cheapest specialty roaster—we're focused on being the best. Every decision we make prioritizes quality, freshness, and sustainability over profit margins.
